28th International Bavarian Youth Music Festival
July 16-23, 2009:
About the Festival:
-The Festival is designed as an international meeting through music and
not as a competition. Its purpose is to bring people from all over the world
together so that they can share ideas and will get to know each other better.
-Many different types of performing groups will participate; e.g. youth
bands, brass bands, choirs, orchestras, and dance groups.
-Each visiting music group will be hosted by a local German music group
of the local area district. Located in the picturesque Main-Spessart area
(near Würzburg), this region is well known for its friendly people,
its beautiful landscape with forests, rivers, and hills, and its picturesque
old villages and towns.
-The festival participants will be accommodated by the families of the hosting
German musicians living in villages and small towns. The German music groups
will offer Bavarian hospitality and "Gemütlichkeit" to their
foreign visitors.
Details:
-Staying with German families will give the young musicians an insight into the German way of life. The homestay program has always been very successful with the participants of past festivals.-Visiting music groups will perform in individual concerts and joint concerts together with other festival participants, or with their respective hosting German music group.
Festivities:
-A highlight will be the performance of all participating groups during the farewell evening, which will take place quite informally in "Bavarian style", with open air and indoor performances. German brass bands will play in the intervals. Food and drink will be offered. It will be a big "get-together" with the local population through music.Click on a link on the left to find out more about the Bavarian Festival
