About the Festival:
The Prague International Choir Festival and Competition, June 30-July 6, 2009 is developed and sponsored by ADI Tours in conjunction with the Prague Philharmonic Children's Choir. Similar in concept and format to the acclaimed Princeton Invitational Choir Festival, the Prague International Choir Festival & Competition will bring together excellent choirs of young singers and adult choirs for 6 full days of rehearsals, workshops, competition, concerts and sightseeing in Prague, the cultural capital of Central Europe.
Invitation Details:
Choirs must submit applications to the Festival Organizing Committee by December
1, 2008. They will be accepted on a rolling admission basis -- that is, an
acceptance decision will be made within 1 month of the receipt of the completed
application materials. The sooner the application is received, the sooner
your choir will be notified of the Organizing Committee's decision.
Prague Concerts:
During the six Festival days, choirs will have a chance to test their skills
in a series of concerts in and about Prague, and, if they wish, compete
in one of the five divisions: Children & Youth choirs (boychoirs, girlchoirs, mixed choirs), High School Choirs (SATB, Men's, Women's), College & University Choirs (SATB, Men's, Women's), Adult Choirs (SATB, Men's, Women's), and Mixed Adult/Youth Choirs.
Workshops for singers and conductors will be given
by the Festival's two featured conductors
Conductors:
Dr. James Litton, Music Director Emeritus - American Boy Choir
Jiri Chvala, Artistic Director, Prague Children's Choir
Choir Competition & Adjudication:
All choirs are offered the opportunity either to compete with other choirs in their five respective divisions or to have adjudication by the Jury. Choirs who choose adjudication will receive special certificates as well as written comments from the Jury. Choirs who choose to compete will vie for trophy prizes in each of the five divisions.
